Case Study: Education Unions Building
Purified office air allows a return to “business as usual”
Safely returning to full capacity in the Education Unions Building after 2 years of intermittent pandemic lockdowns was always going to be a challenge.
With limitations around using HEPA and other UV air treatment devices, the ease of installing a low cost PHI active air purification system from The Clean Air Company made sense – and ensured the health and safety of building staff and visitors.
The Challenge
120 Clarendon Street is a modern five level commercial and commercial building located in the heart of South Melbourne.
It houses the Federation of Education Unions, which collectively services approx. 300,000 members working in the education sector.
Like many organisations during the COVID-19 pandemic, their teams were disrupted by lockdowns and forced to work from home, with indoor office environments shown to be hotspots for virus transmission.
They needed an effective indoor air purification solution that could protect their staff & visitors from the COVID virus and allow a return to full capacity indoors.
“The PHI technology ticked all the boxes in terms of cost, safety, maintenance, efficiency & ease of install.”

The Solution
Using 32 x RGF® HALO-LED PHI active air purification units retrofitted into their existing ducted A/C system, they were able to effectively treat the indoor office space and significantly reduce the risk of indoor virus transmission, creating a safe working environment.
Supplied by The Clean Air Company and installed by Mattick Air, this active air purification system utilises RGF’s patented PHI-CELL® and REME® technologies to provide cutting-edge indoor air purification that proactively treats every cubic inch of air-conditioned space, reducing airborne and surface bacteria, viruses, odours and mould – including 99.9% efficacy against the SARS-CoV-2 virus.
