Case Study: The University of Technology Sydney (UTS)
Forward-thinking Uni leads the way in improving air quality to reduce the risk of COVID transmission in indoor spaces
University of Technology Sydney has become one of the first Australian universities to adopt ACTIVE PHI air purification technology, in an effort to combat the risk of indoor COVID transmission and a host of other airborne threats.
Thanks to the innovative “air cleaning” technology from The Clean Air Company, UTS can now safely return to normal operations in the treated areas with the capability to operate at full capacity with reduced risk to occupants.
“We’re proud to be one of the first Australian universities to adopt active air purification technology to protect the health & safety of all students, staff and visitors.”

The Challenge
Return to work and classroom in the pandemic era has been a challenge for most commercial and educational institutions.
Prior to the COVID-19 outbreak, UTS Building 1 in Broadway, Sydney, was a high occupancy indoor environment which houses the university’s administration units and Great Hall.
The uni was seeking solutions to facilitate a return to normal operations that kept students, staff and visitors safe from ongoing viral risks.
The Solution
Using a total of 28 x 14″ PHI-PKG commercial air purification units retrofitted into two of their ~50,000 l/s AHU’s, the PHI air cleaning particles created by the air purifiers are being distributed throughout the building, actively treating every cubic metre of air conditioned space, eliminating threats as soon as they’re introduced (not just contaminants that make it to the filter).
Supplied by The Clean Air Company and installed by Mojo Air, this patented ACTIVE air purification technology utilises RGF’s patented PHI-CELL® and REME® technologies to provide revolutionary indoor air purification that effectively eliminates airborne and surface bacteria, viruses, odours, mould spores and more.
Independent tests on RGF’s PHI® technology has shown it to be 100% safe, and effective at neutralising the germs from a sneeze before they can travel one metre, making it undoubtedly one of the best air purification solutions in the market.
It’s time to improve your indoor air quality.
